Harvest Salone

Western Rural District, Sierra Leone, West Africa

Invest in Women. Grow Food Security. Strengthen Rural Livelihoods.

Across rural Sierra Leone, too many families are still struggling to meet their basic needs, not because of a lack of effort, but because of a lack of access.

Harvest Salone is changing that.

This community-driven initiative supports over 40 women in rural villages by providing access to affordable water and small-scale crops that they can grow, harvest, and resell at local markets. The result? A steady income stream, reliable meals on the table, and restored dignity.

 Why It Matters

Launched in alignment with the Government of Sierra Leone’s Feed Salone campaign (2019), Harvest Salone advances the national goal of achieving food security and self-sufficiency, but does so at the grassroots level.

We invest directly in the women who hold their families and communities together.

With the right tools and support, these women are not only feeding their households, they’re contributing to a more resilient local economy.

What We Provide

Your support helps us deliver:

  • Low-cost water access for consumption, home gardening and crop irrigation
  • Starter kits and packaging of small-scale crops
  • Skills development and market selling
  • Peer networks for community collaboration and shared success

The Impact So Far

Since launching in Q1 - 2025, so far, your generosity has helped us raise just over $11,000, which funded:

  • Cold storage and refrigeration units to reduce spoilage
  • Support for 60+ women in three rural villages
  • Weekly income streams that now help cover school fees, healthcare costs, and daily meals
  • Water access points that have saved hours of manual labor each week

With every dollar, Harvest Salone is becoming more than a program—it’s becoming a sustainable, community-owned solution that’s rooted in trust, relevance, and dignity.

But there’s more to be done, and we need your help to reach it.

What Comes Next

We’re ready to expand Harvest Salone to 4 additional villages and reach 150+ women by Q4 - December 2025. To do that, we need to your support to raise $45,000 to fund:

  • ⚙️ Solar-powered water pumps
  • 🌿 Crop starter kits tailored to local soil and climate
  • 🧑🏽‍🌾 Local trainers and support staff
  • 🛻 Transportation, storage equipment, and supplies

Your support helps ensure these resources get to the women who need them most, quickly, sustainably, and with dignity.
